We celebrated International Womenโ€™s Day with meaningful conversation around the theme of #BreakTheBias. Discussing the gender bias that women face in educational institutes, workplaces and in their day to day life.

The star of the event was Nazia from DeafTawk providing sign language services & making our gathering more inclusive.

Nazia from DeafTawk wishing you happy womenโ€™s day in sign language

Dr. Zunera Jalil (Associate Professor at Department of Cyber Security, Air University Islamabad) did a workshop on โ€˜Digital Hygieneโ€™, how to protect your online data & presence from phishing attacks.

A panel discussion on โ€˜Inclusion, Connectivity, and Access to Digital Platformsโ€™ was moderated by Sadaf Khan Media Matters for Democracy, panelists included: Midhat Shehzad (IT Secretary, AJKITB); Malahat Obaid (Director, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority); Asim Shahryar Husain (CEO, Ignite โ€” National Technology Fund); and Meena Munawar Khan (Head of Products, JS Bank).

Young women were given the stage to share their experiences in challenging biases in educational institutions, workplaces and society in general. โ€œWe need just one woman in our circle to show it to others that everything is possible, and one male ally can stand up and change everything for a womanโ€, said Nawal Zaheer, who was one of the young women sharing her story. Sakeena (a deaf content creator and Brand Ambassador for DeafTawk), Tooba Waqar (Creator of the QuranTalk), Syeda Quratulain (Radio Host at FM 107.4 & Fellow of the KP Program) and Sehrish Raza (Founder BizB Store) also shared their stories.

Amongst those in attendance were Chaudry Muhammad Iqbal, IT Minister, AJK; Hassan Ali Khan, Advisor KPITB; Syed Hussnain Abbas Kazmi, Executive Director, NITB; Shan Rehman, Social Development Specialist, World Bank; Dr. Khalid Masood, Director Hospital, PIMS; and Pervaiz Abbasi, Project Director, NIC Islamabad.

We would like to thank all the attendants for participating in this wonderful summit and a shoutout to our partners for facilitating us to organize it.
